Frank is a new kind of legal service, and we're building it from the ground up.

We set out to give growing companies what big companies have always had: a legal advisor who knows the business and can be asked anything.

Getting there means questioning how legal work has always been done, from how it's priced to where it happens. We're a small team and the bar is high, so the people who join now will shape how legal services work for years to come.

Associate. We are looking for an Associate to strengthen our legal team. This role is hands-on and client-facing, with responsibility for a portfolio of client matters across commercial contracts, employment and corporate law.

What do you actually look for in a candidate?
Strong legal skills come first. Beyond that, we look for lawyers who understand how businesses work and who think about a client's commercial situation, not just the legal question in front of them. Frank is a young company that is growing quickly, so you should also enjoy being part of building something. If you want clear structures and a fixed path from day one, a larger firm is probably a better fit.
How many clients will I work with at one time?
It varies with the size of each engagement, but most of our advisors work with a handful of clients at any given time. That gives you enough variety to keep things interesting, while still letting you get to know each client and their business properly.
What does your recruitment process look like?
We start with an informal conversation to get to know each other and talk through the role. If we both want to continue, you'll work on a short case based on the kind of problems our clients bring us. After that, you'll meet the founding team for a second interview, where we discuss the case and anything else you'd like to know about Frank. If it's a match, we make you an offer.
How much of my week goes to operational legal work?
Almost all of it. Your main job is advising clients. As we continue to scale, though, we expect everyone to contribute to growing the business as well, whether that means sharing ideas on how we work, leading internal projects, or taking part in client conversations. We're looking for people who see that as part of the job.
